The Finishing Touches!
Here you'll learn how to add the finishing touches to your costume. Like Warmers and Tails, Gloves and Collars, Makeup and Shoes. It all come together into a beautiful finale'. THE COMPLETED CATS COSTUME!

Warmers and Tails Warmers: These are only needed for some CATS, so check before you cut.

There are three methods, The Store Bought Method, The Plush Felt Method, and The Knitting Method.

The Store Bought Method, the easiest of them all, you just go out and buy a pair or two of leg warmers that are longer than you need. Then you go to a fabric/craft store and buy fabric markers or paints and paint the designs of your CAT onto them.
Then when you wear them you scrunch them to look like real CATS. Somewhat Pricey.

The Plush Felt Method, the second easiest method, you just go to a fabric store and buy some white or black plush felt. It's very cheap! YEAH! Then you wrap the fabric around your leg. Dont make it all the same size, you just make if do it fits the contours of your legs snuggly. It needs to follow your calfline. Sew it on the inside all the way down to the bottom, and the seam shoulf be in the back when you try it on. You DO NOT need to cut stirrups into it because it allready covers like a spat. You can just use a VERY THIN piece of extra felt to make a stirrup, sew it on the inside. Then color it with fabric markers or paints.

The Knitting Method, The Hardest Method, you need to know how to knit. Buy some yarn in white or what ever color you need then knit with it. This takes forever. Sometimes trying to knit the pattern in the first time is too hard. Try floral spray/watered down acrylics/fabric markers to give you your color patterns.

TAILS!!
Not Jacob Brent's favorite part of his costume....

You can use a piece of rope for the base or some old nylon legs sewn together. Then you buy yarn in your CAT's colors. You cut off LONG pieces of yarn and make them into little bunches. Then you tie them all over the rope/nylons to make a fluffy tail. The longer the bunches the poofier the tail. I did a child size Rumpleteazer in a hour and a half. An Adult size may take at least 2 hours.

My Misto Acessories.
  Gloves and Collars *Gloves*

Some CATS have gloves instead of warmers on their arms.

I have one method: Altered or Fingerless Glove Method.

The Altered or Fingerless Gloves Method:

You can buy a pair of white nylon/lycra gloves at Claire's (c) or at a dance supply store. If the gloves have fingers put them on and draw with a light colored marker were you want to cut them off.Make sure you make them longer than you want because you'll be hemming them. Then take them off and cut allong the lines. Then put them back on and hem them to the desired length. Then yo can dye or paint or spray.

Some stores even carry fingerless gloves.

Some male CATS have gloves you can buy at a goth or a biker store. Like tugger or Munkustrap. I use cheaffur gloves for my Mister Mistoffelees gloves. I just sprayed mine with glittery floral spray. by Krylon.

*Collars*

For a really good quality spikey collar, go to Hot Topic (c) Or you can go to Claire's for shorter spikes with the same effect. I used a Claire's Collar for my Demeter Collar.

OR you can make a collar by taking some fabric ribbon, some buttons, and some fake jewels. It's simple, come up with a design you like and Fabric Tack (c) the stuff on in that manner.

Jake's Misto Gloves
  Shoes and Makeup

*Shoes*

These make the costume complete. If you're going to dance in the costume, buy white canvas split sole jazz shoes. The canvas take normal paint easier and thier really cheap. For a better look you can buy the Super Jazz Shoe in Tan for painting ease and use a leather paint. If you're going out somewhere I recommend the white canvas KEDS (c). Painting these is the story as with the canvas jazz shoes. Or if you're just wearing your costume around the house, just paint a pair of white gym socks.

*Make-up*

Another must have, or you'll a freak without a CAT face.

FIRST you draw a design on paper, and decide which colors you need. Finalize it!

Then you buy your paint. I like Kryolan AquaColor, It melts easily though because its water based. Steins or other Creme Paints are good but they are harsher on the skin, and don't wash off as easily. I find that cold creme removes almost everything, effortlessly.

Always start with the lightest color, like a white base then move to your medium, and then on to the dark.

Lip sticks tend to clump up, but you can quickly fix that.

Some other CATS costumers use Snazzaroos kits too.
You can get this stuff at costuming/dance supply stores.
